Privacy Policy

Last updated: To be finalized before publication.

This draft policy is based on the app's current architecture and should be reviewed by the site owner before publication.

DailyFi is a personal finance app for Android. This policy describes how the app handles your information, and it distinguishes between how the app works today and features that are planned but not yet available.

How the app works today

Local accounts

DailyFi uses local accounts. Creating an account does not involve server registration: the profile information you enter, such as your name, is stored on your device only.

You can protect the app with a master password, a PIN, or biometric unlock using your device's authentication.

Financial records on your device

Your transactions, ledgers, categories, and related settings are stored locally on your device. The app's everyday features are designed to work offline, and your financial records are not uploaded to DailyFi servers — the only exception is a ledger you explicitly share, described under Shared-ledger synchronization below.

Device permissions

The app may request Android permissions needed for specific features, such as biometric authentication through your device, or storage access for backup, restore, and CSV import/export where applicable. DailyFi does not request permissions for advertising or tracking.

Backups and export

You can create local backups, restore from them, and export transactions to CSV.

Optional cloud backup through Google Drive may be available. If you connect it, backups are stored in your own Google Drive account. Google's handling of that data is governed by Google's terms and privacy policy, not by this document.

Deleting your data

You can delete transactions, ledgers, or your local account from within the app. Uninstalling the app removes locally stored data from your device. Cloud backups you have created remain in your Google Drive until you delete them.

Security status

The app protects access with device-side measures such as a master password, PIN, and optional biometric lock. Additional database-level encryption is planned for a future version but is not currently implemented. No security measure is absolute, and you are responsible for keeping your device and credentials safe.

Shared-ledger synchronization

You can share a ledger with others and keep it in sync across their devices. Sharing is enabled per ledger in settings and applies only to that specific ledger.

When a ledger is shared, only that ledger's data — such as its transactions and members — is synchronized so everyone in it stays up to date. Your other ledgers and the rest of your data remain on your device.

The technical details of the sync service (what is transmitted, where it is stored, and how it is protected) will be documented in this section before public release.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app evolves, particularly as planned features are released. The last-updated date above will reflect any changes.

Planned features

AI assistant Coming soon

An AI assistant is planned but not available yet. When used, it may send relevant information — such as your questions and related financial data — to an external AI service provider to generate answers. The provider has not been finalized; this section will be updated with the provider's identity and data handling before the feature is released.
